It seems a lot of residents are uncomfortable walking our streets due to harassment from the Vagrants that hang out on Newport Ave.

I do feel for these people and their situation but also think we should feel safe in the community we live in specially one as amazing as Ocean Beach.

I'm starting this petition to see how many signatures we can get to clean up our streets of this element.im sure with enough signatures we can affect change and at the same time help these people get into programs etc.

I live on Midway Drive and have run ins with these people on the daily basis. I had shout outside my window to the air until midnight last night and woke up to a 'junkie' couple throwing parts of their shared bike to each other in the middle of the street. I have been a resident here for awhile and the issue is progressively getting worse. I never had negative feelings against transients but these situations really make me feel something needs to cleanup the OB and Midway District locations.

Ocean beach has gotten so out of control with these travelers that are using and selling drugs. Causing lots of crime and disrespecting the police officers that are doing their best to make our community safe again. I don't feel safe walking down Newport Ave. with my dogs. They hang out down by the wall with their pit bulls and who knows if they are going to attack. My neighbor was out walking his two small dogs and one was attacked by a transits pit bull. He was so drunk and couldn't control his dog. We want our community back and this must stop.

I've lived in OB for 30 of my 35 yrs in SD and wouldnt have it any other way. I raised my son here but as a single woman, I feel my community/neighborhood has become an unsafe environment for me when I'm out alone, especially in the evening. I don't feel it's safe to park my car outside in my own driveway overnight with all the break-ins, tire slashing, windshield smashing and theft of late. It saddens me that the little "hometown" beach community I raised my son in doesn't feel like a safe place for my future grandchildren to grow up in.

I don't walk my dog through any of the parks near the lifeguard tower anymore and the dog beach parks are starting to get bad too. the gangs of homeless and their dogs are getting out of control and scary.

While I believe homeless people need help. Much of the aggression and violence comes from passerbys who contribute little to nothing in terms of positive energy and compassion for Ocean Beach.
