we finally got the news that the funding is locked in to clear those advisories. i am honestly blown away that we got this done together. keep an eye on the official rollout because we need to make sure they actually follow through on every promise.

We the undersigned believe that First Nations communities in Canada should ALL have access to clean drinking water, have updated infrastructure and water treatment plants, and have the basic human right of clean water and sanitation provided to them by the end of 2017. This petition is to pressure the federal government to designate enough funding to make this disgusting reality a thing of the past, and to remove the boil water advisories of all First Nations communities by putting the money and man power where it should have been directed years ago.
As we are celebrating Canada's 150th birthday, we feel that this milestone of a year should be the time that our governments and organizations step up and make the necessary financial and labor contributions required to lift all boil water advisories in Canada, and give access to clean drinking water to ALL people in Canada. By signing this petition, you are agreeing with and supporting our call on the governments to fix what has been broken for far too long.

Please approve the funding and resources required to ensure that EVERY First Nations settlement has clean water and sanitation available. This is a horrible example of racism and repression in a country that falsely identifies itself as tolerant, politically correct and inclusive.
As a Canadian living abroad I am confronted on Canada's poor treatment of First Nations on a regular basis. It is not only shameful that more has not been done, but also that so many Canadians are ignorant to the situation. Bravo for bringing this into the classroom and public eye.
Giant rubber duck or clean drinking water for Canada's 150th? Clean drinking water is an ethical imperative and the state of some of our communities is embarrassing, let's do better Canada!
It is pretty sad that other things take precedent over clean water for Canadians. I would love to see all the money spent on the 150 year celebration to go towards improving lives for our country's people who live in poverty.
I cannot think of a better birthday gift to ourselves — knowing that every child can have clean water to drink, bathe and cook with. We will celebrate our beautiful country with joy and pride! Thank you, grade 7s for helping us make this real.

There could be no better way to celebrate this birthday than by restoring clean water to all Indigenous communities in Canada and showing our desire to fully commit to truth and reconciliation and an equitable partnership between our nations.
