Request: The residents, marinas, business interests, and boaters along the Hillsboro River respectfully request that the Town Councils and City Managers of Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton jointly undertake an effort to eliminate debris that is collecting in our waterways.
Request and Suggestion: Entice the city (cities) to purchase, implement and maintain at least 2 skimmers to continually clean our waterways.
Demographics: The number of boats moored or stored along the River is estimated to be approximately 1,300 (source: Google Earth), not including those launched daily from Deerfield’s Pioneer Park boat ramp. On a pleasant weekend day, literally hundreds of boats navigate the River back and forth. There are approximately 600 single family houses on the River or on canals and thousands of tourists every year.
You don't need to be a boater or live on the water to support this cause. We, including tourists from all the world, enjoy the view of a beautiful sparkling waterway and we need your help and support to raise awareness and convince the cities to clean up our waterways and make us proud of where we live.

The debris in our river is getting worse while the town councils continue to ignore our emails. Call your city manager today and demand they visit the river to see this mess for themselves. Post a photo of the current conditions on Facebook and tag your local representatives.

The situation is bad and getting worse every day that passes. I hope the two counties can work together and fix this problem.
We desperately need this dredging done. It's hindered us from family boat use for many many years. WGS
