This petition will be presented to the Novato Unified School Board upon completion. By signing this petition you are supporting the cause to bring air conditioning to Novato High School, Lu Sutton Elementary and Rancho Elementary. Nine out of twelve Novato Unified Schools have AC. This is both a health safety and an equity issue that needs immediate attention!

Reaching this level of visibility proves that parents and staff are tired of the heat in our classrooms. It has been an exhausting road so far but seeing this momentum gives me the resolve to keep pushing until these schools get the cooling they deserve.

Having AC would help students focus. Me being an incoming senior, i know how hard it is to focus in class when the room is uncomfortable for anyone to be in, let alone study in.
I have two children at Lu Sutton. My daughter is heat sensitive, the thought of no AC in classrooms is absurd. This is a safety and health issue for all kids as well as occupational health & safety for teachers.. 90 degrees in classrooms while teaching and learning.. what more is needed to say? Equity!!
All schools should be treated equally. If some schools have AC, all schools should have AC. All the schools are located in Novato, which means all the schools are equally as hot. I have seen first hand how the excessive heat causes students to become lethargic and unmotivated to learn.
Air quality and temperature are crucial to an atmosphere where learning can occur. It’s a basic need that is being overlooked for more flashy additions of PAC, Science wing and new fields.
My friend is a teacher here and I support a healthy environment for her and her students. If my child was in a classroom that got over 90 degrees while she was trying to retain information, I would be pulling her out of that school.
I’m so proud of this community! Rallying together for what is right!
Kids can’t learn when they are uncomfortable.

My daughter came home with a migraine after being cooped up in the classroom and NO AIR CONDITIONING...it’s very hard to concentrate with a headache let alone the heat!!
