Nurses Petition to Increase Medic Pay

Classic Lifeguard is a company built on the fabric of excellent care delivered by paramedics and nurses. The environments that these medical crews work in take advantage of the unique perspective that each profession brings forward. The specific scope of practice maintained within Classic Lifeguard is that nurses and medics are synonymous. It is fair to say that the two professions harbor strengths and weaknesses but work to balance each other out so that the prevailing mode is always excellent.
In the various healthcare roles there is a hierarchy that can be directly attributed to level of accountability and scope of practice. Simply put, if Classic Lifeguard maintains that medics and nurses yield the exact same scope of practice that they could be held accountable for, then the logical assumption would be that the compensation also be the exact same.
This is the current Classic Lifeguard Aeromedical pay rates for nurses and medics:
$ Perday:-------Starting - Post Probation - Cap
Part-time EMT-P: $350 - $375 - $530
Full-time EMT-P: $400 - $425 - $580
Part-Time RN: $475 - $500 - $630
Full-Time RN: $525 - $550 - $680
In obvious analysis, paramedics make 23% less than nurses. If this difference aligns with the industry’s standard of pay then the question is, does Classic expect standard care or excellent care? If Classic desires to maintain at a level above industry standard then the compensation should reflect this.
From the perspective of the nursing staff, our paramedics are skilled, educated, wise and talented. They train new staff, stay up to date on best-practice, insist on refining their skills and attain advanced certificates for critical-care transport. These care-givers have been hand-selected from the medic community and seriously impress their colleagues in the outstanding work they do.
It is the position of the nursing staff at Classic Lifeguard Aeromedical that paramedics receive an increase in compensation to match their nursing counterparts. Let’s set a precedent by going above the industry standard compensation for our priceless paramedics to match the above standard care they deliver.
