Dear Victoria Friends & Neighbors,
There is a new city ordinance being considered by the City of Victoria to define where Predatory Sexual Offenders may and may not reside within our city.
This ordinance would restrict Level 3 Sex Offenders from living within specified distances of common places children congregate (parks, schools, libraries, churches & childcare centers). This ordinance is extremely important to protect the safety of our community, specifically our children.
The Victoria Planning Commission has been very supportive of this proposed City Ordinance and has worked very hard over the last few months to ensure the ordinance is within legal limits and is what our "City of Lakes and Parks" needs!
We need to show City Council that we want this ordinance in place to help protect our wonderful community. If you support this ordinance there are 3 ways you can help...
1-) Please sign the attached petition and add any pertinent comment you feel would express your support.
2-) Please attend the Public Hearing at the City Planning Commission meeting on 3/7 at 6:30 pm at City Hall (1670 Stieger Lake Lane). At this meeting they will hold a Public Input, and all you need to do is state your name and address and tell them you support this ordinance.
3-) Please forward this email to everyone you know in Victoria and ask them to do the same!

The scale of this response is confirming that our community prioritizes these residency restrictions. I am currently finalizing the formal brief to present to the City Council during the upcoming public hearing process.

Seriously hope this passes soon. It makes me nervous just thinking about them living so close to where my kids play. PLEASE make this change.
Our family is undoubtedly 100% in support of this and any ordinance that places the safety, protection and care of our children as the highest priority. We ask that you not hesitate in doing all you can to ensure the children of this community are kept safe, and we thank you.
Safety / security should be a main priority of the City. Our kids deserve to appreciate the wonderful amenities Victoria offers without feeling threatened.
I'm shocked that this isn't already in place on a state wide level. Please pass this ordinance. Thank you.
I fully support the proposed ordinance limiting where Level 3, Predatory Sex Offenders from residing near places children tend to congregate. Many communities have enacted similar ordinances to protect their citizens. We NEED to have this in place in Victoria. Thank you!

This is a no brainer for our neighborhood. We have to keep these people away from our parks and schools.
