A relative of mine resides in a Zion community near this dump and has major concerns re: her and her family's health as a result of this dump site's practices. The air quality (odors, released toxins; and what's in the masking sprayed to quell the obnoxious odors, huh???), seepage into the local watershed, trash dumpings, droppings from hoards of scavenging birds that now inhabit the community. The worst is when I heard of the dead child once dumped on this site! I've heard enough...this site is conclusively detrimental to the health and well-being of the surrounding Zion community. Then, there's the issue of these people's property values plumetting due to this dump site.
Where are the so-called community leaders in all this? Sounds like they're mum or hiding behind ineffectual 'poli-talk', and/or being paid off to do nothing for the locals who voted them in as public servants supposed to protect their interests (when's the next election people)?!
Finally, WHERE is the Environmental Protection Agency in all this-- yourname says it all, in what you are supposed to be doing? Get going on this, Illinois EPA!!

On days when the wind is blowing in a certain direction, the stench of the landfill in the surrounding area is already horrid!

The landfill should be located away from water (lakes, rivers, etc) as well as residents.

Area is already in bad shape. We need to focus on the maintenance and cleanliness of the area without polluting it with our own mess!

It’s already hard to enjoy a sunny day. The smell travels and with an expansion it’s sure to hit other areas that are ever further away.

I've lived in the shadows of this monster now for 22 years, it's an eye sore and even though they mask most of the smells it still gets in the air and stinks up the neighborhood, I think the city of Zion has dealt with this long enough, it's time for us to shut it down.

The trash that ends up in the nearby neighborhoods along with the health concerns of the drippings from the birds is an undo risk these communities are facing. Please put an end to this now!
