We, the undersigned, request that the current landfill, owned by Advanced Disposal Services in Zion, Illinois, be closed immediately and any further expansion permanently stopped.
We feel that this facility is a health hazard to all residents in the region by spreading toxin / bacteria laden dust, dangerous gases, noxious odors, noise pollution, disease spreading pests, and potential ground water contamination due to toxic chemical leakage.
This facility lies within the basin of Lake Michigan and represents a major threat to this source of drinking water that serves millions. Residents, farms, farmers and their crops and livestock, dependent upon clean and safe drinking water, are at risk from the continued operation and expansion of this facility.

I've lived in the shadows of this monster now for 22 years, it's an eye sore and even though they mask most of the smells it still gets in the air and stinks up the neighborhood, I think the city of Zion has dealt with this long enough, it's time for us to shut it down.
The trash that ends up in the nearby neighborhoods along with the health concerns of the drippings from the birds is an undo risk these communities are facing. Please put an end to this now!
I'm concerned about keeping Lake Michigan water clean. The toxins from this landfill are already a problem. Let's not pollute our drinking water any more.
If they were a residential neighbor and they were causing dismay through odor, debris, general nuisance and lowering the surrounding areas property’s value, they would be held accountable Instead, they are a billion dollar industry and they are not. How is that possible ?
What an eye sore! Trash blowing all over the place! And, the odor on HOT summer days, or when the barometric pressure is low, even in the cold months, keeping the stink low to the surface of the earth! I have actually called the FD a couple times, thinking it was a gas leak! Gross!!!!!
Nothing makes your day like having to pull plastic litter from the trees

Stop!!!! There are farms and wells that will become polluted. People are selling and moving out because this is making their homes and property undesirable. Isn't the dump big enough? There's the poop incineration plant, a power plant, and Cleveland Recycling out there, too. Enough with the pollution! How about finding a way to convert it to energy without pollution?
