Dear Local Elected Leaders:

While we recognize and respect your diligence and hard work to protect our communities as you enforce safety measures and public health guidelines, we are alarmed by the Citizen Reporting website (https://www.frontlinepss.com/lakeilreport) in which you encourage and promote the reporting of our neighbors to law enforcement for alleged COVID-19 social distancing violations.

This website (and your support and promotion of its usage) only serves to pit neighbor against neighbor. This is not who we are.

This method of reporting our neighbors for violations such as the 'gathering of people in a private place' and 'not maintaining separation in lines' criminalizes normal human behavior and interaction and further incites fear and worry among the public.

In the name of public health and safety, our government has become overzealous in its reach and authority when we are willing and capable of self-regulating in this time of crisis.

As a measure of good faith, please remove the COVID-19 Violation Citizen Reporting Website and restore confidence that our government is working for us - not against us.
