The residents of Cibolo Canyons in San Antonio, TX are petitioning North East Independent School District for bus service from the residents front doors to the front door of Cibolo Green Elementary. The children, as young as 5 years old now have to walk nearly 2 miles to get to school, and the majority of that walking is on TPC Parkway, where cars drive at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. TPC Pkwy is the main road that services the JW Marriot, and it causes quite a lot of traffic congestion, including taxi cabs, construction workers, residents, tourists, and many more. Eventhough the speed limit posted is 40 miles an hour, which would easliy take the life of a child if they were hit at such a speed, cars are always driving faster than that. We will not wait until one of our kids has been injured or hit by a car. NEISD needs to take care of our children, by putting them on a bus and getting them safely to school. This would also make the school even more "Green" since it would eliminate 100's of idling vehicles. One bus would take the place of so many cars, and the residents of Cibolo Canyons will not be satisfied until NEISD provides a bus for our children.
