The Greyrock Ridge subdivision of the Circle C Ranch community is currently zoned for Baranoff Elementary School. The residents of Circle C at Greyrock petition to be re-zoned to Clayton Elementary School. There are several reasons on why this is a logical move for both the community and AISD.
-Baranoff is currently 187 seats over capacity whereas Clayton is 55 over, which is less than a third.
-Clayton is directly accessible to Greyrock (2.3 miles away) and resides in the Circle C subdivision. However, the route to Baranoff from Greyock is over three times as far, involves crossing the Slaughter Lane/Brodie Lane choke-point, and driving through the highly-congested area of Brodie Lane and Gatling Gun Road. The commute for parents is now very long and limits parental participation in their child's activities. The current bus route places a greater burden on AISD due to higher mileage fuel costs and increased longer-term maintenance.
-Bus pickup for Baranoff in Greyrock Ridge is at 6:37am. When daylight savings time ends in November, it is then dark when the children are picked up. Residents have several safety concerns regarding small children walking to the bus stop and waiting in the dark. Additionally, such an early pick up time requires children to be awake by 5:30am. This does not provide the children to have an effective day at school when their amount of sleep is deprived by their bus route.
-Greyrock Ridge is the only Circle C subdivision to be zoned outside of the Circle C community and into Shady Hollow. All Circle C residents should be zoned with their fellow residents in a Circle C school.

I noticed we are creeping up on our milestone and honestly it has me thinking about that brutal morning commute again because it really is just too early for those kids to be waking up. If you could just ping a few neighbors today to get us over the hump that would be amazing since the district needs to see that we are not going anywhere.

I really thought this might just disappear into the void but looking at how many people have joined in is just honestly overwhelming. It feels like the neighborhood is finally pulling together on this and the fact that we are actually getting traction is pretty surreal because the commute struggle is so real for all of us.

We are climbing toward a hundred names and I honestly cannot believe how quickly this momentum is building up. If you can get this link out to just one neighbor who might not have seen it yet we could easily hit that milestone before the next school board update gets posted. My coffee is already cold but seeing these numbers go up is making me feel like we might actually have a shot at fixing this awful bus commute.

We don't need any more cars going down & clogging up Brodie and clogging up Slaughter and Brodie intersection when Clayton is much closer.
Where is the reasoning for this??? Makes no sense to bus very young children to a school so far away when there is one much closer to home that is not as over capacity as Baranoff! Gas costs for buses, length of journey and already over subscribed roads leading to Baranoff all point to having the children attend Clayton.
When Circle C bused children to Bailey Middle School it was a nightmare. Busing Grayrock children to Baranof is even worse considering the age of the child. There is no direct route from Gray Rock to Baranoff. Please look at the map and make a more intelligent decision.
We live in Greyrock Ridge and want to be involved in the school for our son however that is much too far and traffic is very bad and getting worse.
We purchased our house with the understanding that our son would go to circle c schools. We may consider moving if we are forced to go to baranoff.
It is ridiculous that this neighborhood is zoned for shady hollow schools

If there is a suitable elementary closer to these children, that is where they should go. Baranaoff is well over capacity, and Clayton is much, much closer to the Greyrock subdivision!
