Kaitlin is eleven years old, in year six. It is March and they have got their school applications back, telling them which school they will go to. Kaitlin's friend Rosie smiles. 'Yes! Kailin, I got into High Feilds!' She runs over to hug Kaitlin. Kaitlin sighs. Rosie got into the school Kaitlin wanted to go in to. Rosie's mum managed to move into the catchment. 'Kaits, what's wrong? What school are you going to?' Kaitlin sighs again, then says, 'Hillmount. It wasn't even in my top three!' Rosie gives Kaitlin another hug. 'I'm so sorry! Promise we'll stay friends, yeah?' Kids are meant to choose which school they go to, but now it all depends on catchments, appeals, siblings and medical conditions. Hillmount is Kaitlin's local secondray, in special measures. Lot's of kids are in the same position as Kaitlin. What happened to choosing our school?! The three school's Kaitlin put on the aplication were: 1. High Fields 2. River Walk 3. Hill Side. And did she get into any of these? NO! Please help, sign here for a start.
