We, the undersigned, desperately urge Hampshire Highways to re-establish a bus lay-by at the Chineham Village Hall bus stop on Thornhill Way.

We believe that a serious accident is almost inevitable if steps are not taken to address the fact that some idiot motorists pass the bollards on the wrong side of the road (a blind bend), thus seriously endangering oncoming traffic.

We similarly seek the support of Basingstoke and Deane BC in promoting this proposal.

I support this petition for safety reasons , and would like to point out that when the plans of the safety islands were proposed the bus lay-by remained. Only when work started did the lay-by get removed...(this was not agreed by the parish council present at the time...I am an ex councillor..)

Very dangerous - seen a few near misses - only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed. I seem to remember this wasn't in the original plan when the central island was due to be installed. Removing this layby has also made it dangerous to drive in/out of the village hall car park. Bring the lay-by back!

this is a serious accident waiting to happen, the buses are often there a long time and as Chineham is used as a rat run there are a lot of impatient drivers who will overtake on the wrong side of the road. Please restore the bus lay by

I have seen many drivers overtake a stationary bus at this point. For safety, reinstate the lay-by, positioning it 50 mtrs NORTH of the existing stop, away from the Village Hall Crossing.

I use this bus stop a lot with my two young children and feel the layby for the bus would make getting on and off and crossing the road safer for everyone on foot that crosses the road for the park and the village hall too.

My daughter was knocked off her bike by a car in April at this spot. It is a well used crossing by children and also a busy 'rat run' during rush hours . . .

I think it was ridiculous to change the layout and remove the bus stop in the first place, could never understand why this was carried out. I have seen many an impatient driver overtake on the wrong side of the road, an accident waiting to happen.

Please ensure no children are hurt by replacing the bus lay by!
