Final supporters
WE GAVE THEM AN INCH - THEY TOOK 50 FEET!
And we are asking the Selectmen of Chilmark, the Martha's Vineyard Commission and the building inspector to stand up and stop this illegal construction NOW.
The pilings are in and the bridge is OVER 50 FEET LONGER than the plans they filed with the Martha's Vineyard Commission.
BEING BUILT WITHOUT A BUILDING PERMIT
WIDER than the legal limit for private roads in Chilmark.
TALLER than the bridge presented at town meeting vote.
LAWRENCE LASSER, the president of the homeowners group building of the bridge, listed his house for sale THE DAY CONSTRUCTION STARTED. These people do not care about our town, our beach.
SELECTMAN BILL ROSSI, has admitted he had an undisclosed CONFLICT OF INTEREST when he pushed this project through the 2015 town vote.
Speak up for our beach. It belongs to all of us
Cronyism is not ok.
Demand our town leaders protect OUR BEACH.

The primary issue with this bridge is that, when the town voters approved the project, they agreed to a "low causeway." This is not what has been designed and pushed through. The explanations given for the current design are not reasonable or supportable. The project has become a violation of trust.
Convenience vs. conservation? The fact that they both begin with the same three letters is the only thing they have in common. I go for conservation, saving the beach which cannot be replaced, and using a low impact approach (which I hear is also less expensive!)
There are few opportunities to maintain the character & beauty of this amazing island I've called home for 25 plus years... this is one of those rare moments to stop unnecessary development and insure Squibby beach will remain its beautiful self for generations to come...
I have been going to Squibnocket every year of my life. It is beautiful and deserves to remain that way. Researching this project displays no Environmental Impact reports, permits or other due diligence usually found with these types of projects. Something fishy is going on here. THIS MUST BE STOPPED.
Long time resident of Stonewall Beach and user of Squibnocket beach. I oppose the proposed changes, they bought their properties out on Hornblower point and new the deal when (many of them) built their giant summer houses. I don't see how this is needed, how it can be built so close to wetlands etc.
Get the facts. Everything in the newspaper advertisement is Fake News!

This bridge needs to be stopped!!! Not completely sure how land, that was donated to be preserved forever somehow got sold for this project except for the one person who sat on both boards who pushed the purchase through and then quickly resigned... and now his house is for sale?? hmmmm...
