We hereby petition Comal County to implement the following changes to Unit 1, Phase 1, commonly referred to as the Homestead of The Johnson Ranch Subdivision:
1.) Repaint and improve the cross walks so they are clearly demarked to allow safer entrance and exit from Johnson Ranch Elementary School;
2.) Extend the existing school zone to encompass Lariat Dr. inclusive of flashing lights indicating so.

We certainly need added security for the children and ingresss and egress for residents. EMS needs access to residents too.
It would be nice to have some officer presence until the pick up pattern is established. There are many residents who need to get in and out of area and we don’t have children at the school so we need to be able to bypass all these lines safely.
This would be a good start. It would be nice if those dropping off or picking up would stay to the left and not block 1863 or Johnson way in order to keep traffic flowing and room for emergency vehicles.
We can’t ignore the safety of children until something tragic happens! These actions are critically needed!
Why not use the empty field across from the school entrance to defer traffic out of the neighborhood. Create a loop system to direct traffic out of our driveways.
There still should be a school zone on 1863 as well. Super silly to take it out just because of the light. People speed to make the yellows and rest sometimes. Very unsafe still
much needed for our neighborhood, school and kids safety!

As the Johnson Ranch Elementary school grows year after year, so do the traffic problems. The traffic light at 1863 and Johnson Way is a tremendous help, but traffic lines up in all directions as family members drop off and pick up their children/grandchildren from the school. Truthfully parents/family members should not be able to park on lariat to pick kids up and drop kids off. driving on lariat after picking up, kids is difficult with kids crossing the street from the school to the opposite sidewalk while parents of those “so called walkers” Park on that curb and wait for their kids to cross the street. Lariat does not have room for two-way traffic and cars parked up and down the street during the school year.
