The ‘Dubs amendment’, introduced by the Peer Lord Dubs, aimed to help some of the estimated 90,000 unaccompanied migrant children across Europe. In response, the Government promised to a goal to bring 3,000 unaccompanied children to the UK, commonly now known as the Dubs amendment. Many people believed that the Government would fulfill this promise but they have now ‘gone back on their word’. The Dubs amendment was a separate commitment to the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement (VPR)- taking refugees from the ‘region’. Child refugees are languishing in Camps through Europe at a risk of trafficking and modern day slavery.
We the undersigned ask the Government to honour its original ‘Dubs amendment’ commitment;
