A Northern bypass is not the solution to the well-known problems on the existing Southern bypass. Desecrating the area to the North of Chichester for ever is not the way forward. Something needs to be done, and that something is a proper upgrade of the existing Southern bypass

Enhancing traffic flows around the south of Chichester through an upgrading of the existing A27 will do far more for our company than any arterial road across the North - leaving aside the massive damage to the environment that burying green fields under tarmac will wreak on the edge of the national park

A new northern bypass makes no sense. Making changes to the existing A27 route will ensure that this area gets the infrastructure it deserves & preserves the countryside for the future.

We have staff living on the peninsular and working in Portsmouth and they are always stuck in traffic accessing the A27. Option 2 or 6 will provide far improved access on and off the peninsular. Our staff do not feel that the Northern route will help them as most of the traffic is local.

Why ruin this beautiful area of country side between Chichester city and the downs with such a hideous scheme, has nobody considered a number of underpasses of flyovers at the relevant junctions that are causing the congestion.
Please please please, don’t let them wreck our country side anymore than what is absolutely necessary.

It is a ludicrous idea that would ruin a beautiful part of the country. Living and working on the Manhood Peninisula I know that this will not alleviate the traffic problem one little bit! Why can't a tunnel be made under the current bypass? That way there would be no further destruction of our beautiful countryside and heritage. It would also mean that those passing through will be able to use the tunnel and those turning off locally can use the current bypass. The same should be done for Arundel too. Even though it costs more it is worth it in the long run and I am certain would achieve more support rather than the type of opposition that is apparent for this preposterous idea!

The sensible way forward in addressing this issue is to improve the existing southern bypass , especially considering the amount of traffic that originates from south of Chichester .

Our business attract thousands of people from outside W Sussex none of whom ever have problems with the road congestion in getting here but they do appreciate the beauty of our countryside which would be wrecked by the planned A27 bypasses around Chichester and most importantly in our case, Arundel.

our ramblers frequently walk in West Sussex. The proposed Northern routes would have a huge detrimental effect on the South Downs, where we enjoy many walks.

Destroying the countryside to the north is loosing an irreplaceable part of our countryside. The only acceptable method would be to sink the road below ground level and roof it to make a shallow tunnel.
The key is to keep the local traffic moving to the North and South of the existing A27 while allowing the through traffic to flow without impedence.
More building decrees from central and local government will mean additional loading on the road so a fully revised southern A27 IS the ONLY option to help the increasing population to carry on moving.

There is a road that can do the job it's called the A27. It just needs to be upgraded and makes so much more sense on all levels than building a new northern route.

A northern by pass will take years disrupt some beautiful countryside and achieve very little. We have a bypass it just needs sorting out to get traffic flowing as it should it seems every possible way the roundabouts get more confusing the traffic lights take longer etc etc

We believe that the existing A27 should be upgraded. We do not believe that a northern bypass would benefit local businesses and their employees. But it would certainly destroy the uniqueness of Chichester.

Our biggest issue is the fishbourne roundabout, this is dangerous and can be very congested

A Northern Bypass could close down most of the activities at Goodwood including their flagship motoring events. These events keep the majority of Chichester businesses financially viable including the tourist trade.
