We the undersigned, support the application for Cheddar to become a WALKERS ARE WELCOME village. We believe that achieving this status will bring useful benefits to local residents and the business community. We support the campaign to secure better facilities for walkers, for continued maintenance of our public footpaths, for development of waymarked trails and for better access by public transport, all of which are necessary to the success of our WALKERS ARE WELCOME application.

Once accreditation is achieved, all information relating to signatories will be destroyed.

Updates

The feedback from local business owners has been overwhelmingly positive. They see exactly why this accreditation is a win for our village.

The momentum is incredible. This shows how many people want better paths for Cheddar.

Cheddar and its neighbouring villages are connected with some of the most outstanding natural beauty and it needs to be highlighted and shared with everybody. This can be done by promoting and educating where possible what this area has to offer.

Completely agree. We need to promote Cheddar as a destination to as many diverse groups as possible. There is more here than caves and cheese.

Fantastic idea. There are many walks on the outskirts of the village, through fields with rights of way. Whilst many local farmers are happy for walkers to keep to the footpaths through their land, there are the exceptional one or two who deliberately try to stop walkers. We do need to clarify the boundaries so they are more easily recognisable, having done so, it would be helpful if either Sedgemoor council, or volunteers with Sedgemoor's approval, could erect the relevant signage, espcially on land where the owners do try to prohibit walkers.
