Petition to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Simple One-Page Checking Account Disclosure
The Pew Charitable Trusts has urged the government to protect us against banks that take advantage of consumers. It has urged that banks be required to submit a simple, easily understandable and comprehensive breakdown of our fees and our rights when we have a checking account. We strongly support this. Many of us, or our friends or our relatives do not have checking accounts because of bank abuses.
We are prepared to testify on behalf of this simple checking account form anywhere in the State of California, if you wish to hold hearing. We urge you to do so.

Keep it simple. Plain english not bank speak.
so tired of hidden fees popping up out of nowhere. just tell us what it costs to bank there simple as that.
I got hit with 3 overdraft fees last month because the info was hidden in a 40 page document. ENOUGH.
my bank charges me just to have an account. i need to see exactly where my money is going every month.
Banks are just predatory at this point. make them show the fees upfront so people know what they are getting into.

About time. These banks make their fine print impossible to read on purpose so they can keep stealing from us.
