The Prince Georges County Redistricting Commission is considering moving College Heights Estates from District 3 which currently includes College Heights Estates, University Park, College Park, and the University of Maryland.  The College Heights Estates Association is unanimously opposed to this proposal. 

College Heights Estates is historically linked with University Park and was initially developed by the same developer more than 70 years ago.  We are a unified community with many common interests. Together we are a beautiful, contiguous, engaged community, and partner on issues of common interest such as education, safety, transportation, development, and environmental issues. Our children go to the same schools.  We are bordered on the east side of Adelphi Road.  The proposal to cut a wedge out of District 3 slicing our less than 200 homes away from its current location is unsupportable.

Given the strong ties between College Heights Estates and University Park, it is difficult to come up with any sensible, substantive justification for the proposed move of College Heights Estates out of District 3 - especially when University Park, the University of Maryland, and the City of College Park will remain in District 3.

We strongly urge the Redistricting Commission to vote to keep College Heights Estates in District 3 and have signed this petition in opposition to the proposed move.
