The school just confirmed that the bathroom restriction is officially lifted and they are beginning the process of updating the facilities. My daughter is already relieved to know she can finally go throughout the day without fear. Thank you for helping me hold them accountable.

My child is new at Charter Academy in Portsmouth, I have been made aware that children are not permitted to go to the bathroom during lesson time, and the facilities are not equipped to deal with that amount of students so they end up having to queue for their whole lunch and break times if they need to use them. This is leading to children not drinking during the day or holding on until they get home. This is not healthy, and not ideal, especially for young girls. I think they need to get more facilities installed or let the children go to the bathroom in lesson time.

We get to go to the bathroom as adults, even at work when they are paying for our time. Even prisoners get to use the bathroom when required.

I don't understand how this has been accepted for so long.

When parents have complained it's been brushed off due to children vandalising the toilets. Not every child wants to vandalise toilets. Some actually just need to go.

This is a basic human right. Please sign so we can show the school that this won't be accepted. Thank you!

I have been hearing from so many of you who are watching your children suffer through this daily indignity. The school continues to offer the same excuses about vandalism but they are refusing to acknowledge the physical harm this policy causes to our kids.

Seeing this momentum grow has been overwhelming because my child deserves to feel safe and comfortable at school. It is clear that so many families are feeling the same frustration about these basic needs being ignored. We are finally proving that this policy cannot continue in silence.

This disgraceful. On top of children having the right to relieve themselves not being able to use a toilet can be life threatening for a girl. Toxic shock syndrome can occur and kill within a couple of hours.

My boy was so desperate that he was in pain but teacher couldn't get hold of anyone to take him. Absolutely disgusting. Even more disgusting is that he should have 121 support - where were they?

Bloody shocking. As a children's social worker and governor for a local school, I question how anyone can consider this to be an effective approach to educating young people. It is removing a basic right and placing undue pressure, in what is already a pressurised environment. Good luck with this petition.

Disgusting kids can’t just go to the toilet!! If a student pee’s their pants that’s opening the doors to so much unnecessary bullying, or kids not drinking water to avoid needing the toilet, or having to chose between food and using the toilet on their lunch. LUDICROUS.

That is absolutely disgusting.. My daughter was to scared to ask to use the toilet in middle school because she was told no and shouted at.. nw she has bladder problems that may not get any better

Makes common sense! If I wasn't allowed to go to the toilet when needed, my chair would be dirty within the first session...

Exactly what I wrote in a complaint, you all need to email it into head teacher.
