The recent rash of car thefts and burglaries in the Chaparral Ice parking lot (IH35 location) is absolutely unacceptable. It is negligence on Chaparral Ice's part to let this go on for so long and do nothing about it. On March 4 my pickup was stolen and found several days later in a border patrol chase with all the contents gone and everything stripped out. My fathers car was broken into two weeks later. In my opinion this is partially to blame on the managements careless attitude and total lack of security. Customers at gyms, malls, etc expect the businesses they are patronizing to at least attempt to look after their cars on the businesses property, why can't Chaparral Ice? I have heard of cars being stolen or broken into at the rink before. I never thought it would happen to me, if it hasn't happened to you yet it will eventually. An employee told me last night that 7 cars were stolen in a 5 week period in February and March of 2011. We all know of someone who has had this happen to them. Please help me communicate to the management that we will not tolerate this anymore. It's just a matter of time before a thief gets caught in the act, is surprised by one of us, our friends, or a family member and is attacked, injured or worse. Hopefully it doesn't happen to your girlfriend/wife, etc when you ask her to run out to the car to get your wallet to pay for beer after the game....
All I ask is for the rink to put forth an effort other than their half-hearted attempts so far. This may include installing cameras, fixing the broken lights in the parking lot, hiring security guards during games, having the parking lot patrolled by police regularly, or numerous other options. I have noticed that you have bait car signs in the parking lot, but any criminal can see, just as easily as I have during the day that there is no bait car. If anyone from Chaparral Ice cared in the least bit about their customers, something would have been done by now. I have heard of this going on as long as I have been a customer for the past 10 years at the rink and incidents seem to be on the rise.
Chaparral Ice has a duty to take action to protect loyal customers who spend thousands of dollars every year to play the sport we love. Is chap ice going do the right thing and take action or are they going to continue to sit on their hands?

The increase in public interest regarding our security concerns indicates that the community recognizes the urgency of this situation. This momentum confirms that we are unified in our demand for a safer environment at the rink. Management can no longer overlook the scope of this problem.

Management needs to wake up. Put up some damn cameras or hire someone to patrol the lot. Enough is enough.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I don't even like going to late night practices anymore because I'm terrified to walk to my car alone.

Fix the parking lot lighting at least. It is pitch black out there and that is exactly why this keeps happening.

7 cars in 5 weeks? That is insane. Why are we still paying fees to park in a place that basically invites thieves to rob us blind?

My truck got broken into last month. Tired of losing money because they refuse to hire a simple security guard for the lot.

My daughters car was hit in that lot. They act like it isn't their problem but it definitely is.
