Rugby Canada recently decided not to allow PRO Rugby to operate in Canada. They changed their mind on an exclusivity agreement at the last minute and the result has been that there will be no professional Rugby in Canada, for who knows how long. Rugby Canada was recently involved in a pay dispute with it's Sevens players, and now they've killed the chance for Canada to have 70 players playing full time in two teams, with decent pay. What's more is they offer no elite training facilities beyond Vancouver Island, PRO Rugby was going to base a team in Toronto, providing a pathway for players outside of BC.
As fans we have watched the steady slide of Canadian Rugby for a decade now. We haven't beaten the US in three years, we loose to the likes of Romanian and Georgia, Japan doesn't even bother to send it's full team anymore. And now Rugby Canada has turned down the best opportunity for Canada to develop it's player pool and start catching up. We are demanding Rugby Canada reverse it's decision and allow PRO Rugby to operate in Canada for the 2017 season.

Rugby Canada management is on par with that of Samoa. They are doing everything they can to run the sport into the ground and this decision is just another example of that fact.
Not to mention competing with rugby league in Toronto- starting in 2017 will make it far, far easier to gain traction, rather than letting RL get the head start
I believe that partnership is what is going to make rugby grow in North America. History tells that USA and Canada are meant to be partners. Just Do It Canada!
Super Rugby and PRO12 are unrealistic. Put the rugby's growth over the potential payday.

Rugby Canada needs to take this chance to develop professional XV teams. . If we don't move past our amateur roots, our men's national team will continue to suffer.
