The administration finally caved and scrapped that ridiculous spandex ban. We forced their hand because we refused to accept their outdated control. Stay alert because we are watching to make sure they do not try any other nonsense.

The spandex rule has been changed! I had a meeting with the administration and it went very well! Thank you to everyone who signed this and made it possible!

The administration is finally listening because they see us gaining ground but we cannot let them get comfortable yet. We need to hit that 250 signature mark today to force their hand completely. Get this link in front of everyone you know right now so we can keep the pressure on.

there is a double standard at this school when it comes to sports. banning spandex yet other teams are allowed to practice shirtless? if it is an issue or “a distraction” for a girl to wear spandex then maybe you should change your view on women and not view them as objects instead of banning a clothing item entirely. but of course no one is ready for that conversation

Are we not going to comment on how the guys on the wrestling team wear spandex? So much more is shown than a girl just wearing a pair of shorts. You wouldn’t take the helmet away from a football player because that’s part what is needed to play the sport. A volleyball player needs their knee pads and their spandex shorts. This should not be an issue in my opinion.

1.Spandex is good for compression which will help with blood circulation. 2. Muscles don’t vibrate when running using less energy.

This is a safety issue for these cheerleaders. Wind shorts will not be sufficient for stunting. They are too baggy and too slick. It poses an issue for the flyer who may be dropped or caught only by the clothing and for the bases who can injure fingers, wrists or worse when dealing with extra fabric.

I believe it should be changed because as someone who goes to a fine arts school we need spandex so we can dance and preform other extra Curricular Activities for efficiently!

As a parent of a cheerleader, my concern for her safety when participating in stunts due to inappropriate attire is a priority. Many sports, men’s & woman's, have tight fitting uniforms for the purpose of improved performance. It seems 2 sports are being singled out with this dress code change.

we should totally be able to wear spandex, it’s easier to move in and it covers us. this is our body and we should be able to choose how we dress.
