The sexualization of our bodies is not our problem.
You do not have the right to force us to change.
You are objectifying women and implying that boys cannot control themselves, that leggings or a bra strap showing distracts them from their education.
If it's warm out, I'll wear my shorts or a dress.
If it's cold out, I'll wear my leggings or yoga pants.
My clothing is my choice.
If my parents give consent to my outfit, can you?

I was just checking the screen and honestly it feels like a dream that this took off because I remember when it was just me typing this out in my room while feeling so frustrated about that dress code policy. Reading all your notes about why you signed makes me realize how many other girls felt exactly the same way and it honestly feels like we are actually going to change how things look around here now.

If your parent lets you out of the house in what you're wearing, then the school has no right to humiliate you and make you change your clothes. Instead of changing our clothes, CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE. -Maddie
Not allowing girls to wear leggings is absurd - it isn't acceptable that girls should be controlled and told what to wear because of an implication that boys cannot control themselves and could be distracted.
The dress code restrictions placed on our young girls is teaching them the "you asked for it" mentality of a patriarchal society. This feels like a throw back to a different era women have fought hard to rise above.
I am an incoming eighth grader and the dress code is extremely outdated. It's completely misogynist and allows girls next to no clothing freedom. There is a fine line between appropriate clothing and not allowing girls to be comfortable with their bodies. Don't get them mixed up!
I went to MVMS last year and during the month of May it got super hot. I only had 4 "dress code appropriate" skirts/dresses and I only wore those for an entire month. It's not fair that girls have to knock out half of their closet because some guy is a perv.

I'm a parent of a middle schooler and I think this dress code is ridiculous. My daughter loves to be comfortable in her yoga pants. Now she is going to be distracted by her less comfortable clothes. How does that help her education?
