The safety and security of our future is in the hands of those making the rules and regulations. This is backsliding into the chaos of providers doing what they what, how they want to do it, what they want to charge-and all without any form of direction! Sad....

It is outrageous that anyone would ever consider allowing a bill like this to even start the process of becoming a law. This bill will endanger every child that attends one of these homes and the possibilities of the types of danger is unthinkable!

I am very concerned regarding the oversight of this bill. As a licensed home provider I have worked very hard to provide the best quality care possible. I am a member of the Colorado Shines Program that the state received millions of dollars to ensure quality and safety. Honestly I don't even believe this petition goes far enough. Who will monitor these unlicensed providers to ensure our children are safe and receiving the best quality care possible?

As a parent, the idea of unlicensed, unmonitored people being allowed similar status and privileges as those trained to watch and care for children is more than a little concerning.

I have no kids but even I don't think this is not a good idea there are too many sick people out there that can take advantage of this. This scares me.

I'm furious to think that children will be placed in harms way more frequently. This will be legal and parents will see nothing wrong with it. What are we doing to the new generations? This is going backward to the days when kids went to wherever their parents could afford and terrible things happen. Think about how far we have come just requiring a license to provide care.

I cringe at the thoughts of what could be happening to so many children if this bill is passed and no one will be regulating or checking on the home child cares that they will be in.

This bill is scary for children's safety. Parents need to be informed and confident that there is oversight and education for child care homes. Licensing departments have been increasing the safety and education for licensed childcare homes recently. Some of these rules are good and some are overreaching but never the less licensed homes are being offered more support and education than they were previously. I have done licensed childcare for 27 years and it can be a lonely and stressful job if you have no support systems in place. Unlicensed and legally exempt providers will not have these support systems unless they vigorously seek them out. I'm afraid few will. This bill does not assure the safety of children in these "legally exempt" care settings. At a time when Colorado is spending time, effort and money to increase the number of quality child care settings through the Colorado Shines program, this bill seems counterproductive.

The importance of quality early childhood education is becoming increasingly recognized. The requirements /training for licensed childcare providers is increasing. it is counterproductive to offer families less than optimal child care options, knowing that the level of care is most likely not equal to what is now available.

I am a teacher of young children and this is a terrible bill.
Also could we all stop calling it Day Care? I have worked in Early Childhood Education since 1993 and I have yet to care for a day. I am a teacher like any other teacher who has a degree, spends my own time, money, and works after hours to better children's lives. I it discussing to be called Day Care
