EVERY childcare provider needs to be licensed by the State of Colorado. More precautions are taken with animals than are taken with other people's children! This is insane!

There are so many factors of this bill that would be more harmful than beneficial to over all program. In addition to the concerns already stated in the petition, I feel that income tax reporting, liability insurance, local city/county zoning requirements, and advertising should all be considerations . If this bill were to pass, a licensed home would only be allowed two more children than an unlicensed home; the cost and burden of licensing far out way any financial benefit of those two additional spots. While I agree that family can be an excellent source for childcare, I do not believe that is who would be affected by this bill. This bill would allow anyone to advertise to unrelated strangers as a legit childcare home. I feel this bill would have an opposite effect, pushing many licensed providers to become unlicensed, receiving the benefits of no regulation, under the table pay, and no training requirements. It is absurd to me that over the past three years, at least six new training requirements have been added for licensed providers, yet we are now considering a huge loop hole for providers to avoid any training whatsoever. Colorado has made leaps and bounds in building up quality programs. There are many many resources available for those who truly have an interest in providing quality care. Bottom line, early childhood education is the foundation for each individual's future ability to learn; early experiences can literally change brain development and the way we receive information. Quality over quantity could not be more applicable in this situation.

I am a home provider. I have been licensed for 20years, I feel it would be dangerous for children to be in unlicensed homes. We have tons of training yearly for the growth of the child, I feel it will cause issues and lots more child abuse.

I value the safety of my children and the education that licensed providers have. Please re-evaluate the wording in this bill and consider whether it is in our children's best interest to proceed. I think you will find it is lacking in several areas when you look at it in that context.

This bill is unconscionable. It exposes children tp great danger. It does not protect the most vulnerable--children who don't know how to communicate trouble of fear.

To put children at risk by having them in unlicensed homes is completely appalling! I can not help but point out the contradiction of urging licensed providers to increase quality and push them towards programs such as Colorado Shines while passing this law. This is truly baffling!

I understand that the purpose of this Bill is to help child care providers who are not licensed to be legal, and increase accessibility for those looking for a child care provider. However, in its current form, this may jeopardize the safety of children in Colorado who are placed in unlicensed child care homes.

I spent 6 months preparing, educating myself, and jumping all of the hoops required for my license. Sad that the state now feels like it means nothing. Maybe instead of compromising children's safety. Hire enough staff to get more providers licensed the right way.

So Colorado has regulated childcare so much that providers are quitting. Now they need more providers to fill the gap. What better way than to take a select group and not regulate them at all.
