Waterlogged pitches, Frozen pitches, snow, heavy rain and icey cold weather disrupt games regularly .These Kids go for weeks in winter without games and when they are on , the surfaces are poor and they cant give it there all. How can they develop in these conditions ?

Pitch hire is costing clubs thousands each year. Kids are struggling for somewhere to train in most cases as the winter weather disrupts it all too often.

Its time to move to summer football - there can be no more excuses .

Summer football = More games , better playing surfaces , more spectators , pitches protected from winter weather , reduced costs for clubs for lighting / training facilities, everyone's happier and the kids play much better.

Summer football = Better , happier players.

Its time let's make this change happen !!

Updates

January 31, 2016

I HAVE BEEN TALKING TO SO MANY FRUSTRATED PARENTS ABOUT THESE FROZEN PITCHES AND THE STORIES ARE ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! PEOPLE ARE FED UP WITH PAYING FOR FACILITIES WE CANNOT EVEN USE BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER!! WE ARE GETTING READY TO PUSH THIS HARDER THAN EVER BEFORE BECAUSE THE CURRENT SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!

January 31, 2016

THE MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY EXPLODING RIGHT NOW!! THIS IS THE ENERGY WE NEED TO FINALLY GET THESE KIDS OUT OF THE MUD AND ONTO REAL SUMMER PITCHES!! NO MORE FROZEN GAMES!!

As a manager this should be ideal as we hav only played 2 times since November an this way they could hav winter leagues indoors

As a parent of a child in two teams of a Saturday and Sunday think summer games would be ideal as sometimes feel like leaving the rest of the family out due to horrendous weather in the winter months.

Although I agree with Summer football to an extent I would personally prefer a small winter break and just add 6 weeks or so to end of season finishing in June. July/August pitches can actually sometimes be too hard, dry grass and of course potential to be to hot to play in (although rare in England!)

As Chairman of the Bolton Bury and District Football League which is looking to move it's U7 to U14s to a March-Oct season I can only endorse this move 12 weeks without games for many teams The long term forecast is for milder wetter winters in the future making this an annual occurrence It's time for grassroots sport providers to make the change Ours will be doing from March 2017 All the best with your petition Regards Warren Barlow
