Change City of Thornton code to allow residential chickens.

Thornton needs to allow backyard chickens! Not sure why the residence in the city of Denver allows backyard chickens...but NOT Thornton!!! What a joke. Pass an ordinence that allows backyard chickens already!!!!!!!

Hi! So I have a very similar petition going on Change dot org, https://www.change.org/p/thornton-city-council-legalize-chickens-in-thornton We should get together some time and talk about how to combine forces. We're pretty much the last city in the Denver metro area not to allow this. I've been wanting to go out to one of the many festivals Thornton hosts every year and collect signatures in person, maybe hang out at that new feed store on 120th and Colorado with petitions as well. Want to team up?

Yes! Thornton's overdue in allowing chickens. Many of our surrounding cities allow for this. With proper guidelines for responsible chicken ownership, this would allow residents the chance to raise more of their own food.

I am all for chickens allowed in Thornton, much healthier to raise our own food.

Chickens are many, many times quieter than dogs, and if a chicken gets loose there is a 0% chance it is going to hurt or kill someone.

We had chickens at our house in Arvada. When we moved to Thornton in September, we had to get rid of them. They were a great way to keep our trash down by feeding them our fruits and veggies that were going to waste or scraps that we don't eat and in return they gave us great poo that we used in our compost for our own fertilizer as well as eggs. It is a great way to recycle and reuse. I hate just throwing away our food scraps

I hope this becomes a reality, I would love the opportunity to raise chickens with my garden!
