On March 3, 1971, Christine Ferrara, was savagely raped and murdered by Carl A. Macedonio. Eighteen-year-old Christine, better known to her friends and family as Chris, was walking to work one morning in Smithtown, NY. Macedonio spotted her and waited until Chris walked by. He then pulled her into a nearby wooded area, viscously raped her, and slit her throat, out of fear that she might be able to identify him. Ten days later, two young boys playing in the woods found Chris's body. Police immediately suspected Macedonio, as he had previously attempted to abduct another young girl in the same spot. He had brutally and sadistically raped yet a third young schoolgirl, also in the same location. Macedonio, soon after, confessed to the rape and murder of Christine Ferrara. He was convicted of First Degree Murder, First Degree Manslaughter, and First Degree Rape. He was also convicted of First Degree Rape for the other young schoolgirl. Carl Macedonio was sentenced to a minimum term of 33 years to a maximum term of life in prison. In 2004 and 2006, he appeared before a Parole Board but was denied Parole both times. Now, he will appear again, to possibly have a chance to be free. Chris, unfortunately, will NEVER have another chance. We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the parole of Carl A. Macedonio. For the protection of our society, justice demands that this repeated rapist and murderer serve the maximum prison term given to him at the time he was sentenced for this malicious crime.

Chris was my childhood friend and a wonderful person. I was so horrified to hear of this unspeakable and horrific act. This man should never see the light of day or ever have the freedom to do this again to another innocent woman.

I was a 15 or 16 year old kid in Smithtown NY. shortly before the murder. While playing ball on my front lawn one day, a car, one velvet corvette came racing down my street at what seemed like 100 mph. My father, a NYPD Police officer came running out, as he had heard the car. Too late, the car had gone by. Several Minutes later while he was still outside, the same sound came from the other direction. He was ready this time! He picked up what can be best described as a small boulder from our rock garden. DIRECT HIT, on the side of his car. The man in the car was Carl Masadonia, who jammed on the brakes and started to get out. My father, who was armed, but never pulled his service revolver, charged the car. Masadonia must have thought better of the situation, jumped back in and took off. Not too long after that, the murder occoured. My father lived almost another 35 years, passing away in 2005, at 89 yrs. old. He was haunted the rest of his life, telling people "I SHOULD HAVE SHOT AND KILLED THAT SON OF A BITCH WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE"!! I can still see that corvette to this very day!! I never got to my aunt because of him. My sisters never had a chance to know Aunt Chrri. I had to learn about her from a picture in grandma's room and when I asked about her, my grandma cried. She lost a beautiful daughter in a terrible, sickening way. My mom had to tell me about her sister she barely got to know because Chris died so young and my mom was only a small child when the monster took her life. I went to my first parole when I was in my early teens. Nobody should have to deal with this but here we are again, fighting a fight we shouldn't have to. He needs to stay in prison. I was hitchhiking to Smithtown and he picked me up with his friend who was a passenger...his friend inferred they could have some fun with me. Carl told his friend to leave me alone. I strongly oppose the release of Carl Macedonia back Into society. He showed no feelings for the young women he raped and murdered. He belongs behind bars permanently for such vicious crimes. I am a resident of Smithown who in my college days, lived through his "Smithtown reign of terror."
Chris was my childhood friend and a wonderful person. I was so horrified to hear of this unspeakable and horrific act. This man should never see the light of day or ever have the freedom to do this again to another innocent woman.
Why is this guy still alive? He deserves to be put to death just like he did to that poor girl !!! Shame on our society for allowing this animal to live on our taxpayers money !!!

I was a 15 or 16 year old kid in Smithtown NY. shortly before the murder. While playing ball on my front lawn one day, a car, one velvet corvette came racing down my street at what seemed like 100 mph. My father, a NYPD Police officer came running out, as he had heard the car. Too late, the car had gone by. Several Minutes later while he was still outside, the same sound came from the other direction. He was ready this time! He picked up what can be best described as a small boulder from our rock garden. DIRECT HIT, on the side of his car. The man in the car was Carl Masadonia, who jammed on the brakes and started to get out. My father, who was armed, but never pulled his service revolver, charged the car. Masadonia must have thought better of the situation, jumped back in and took off. Not too long after that, the murder occoured. My father lived almost another 35 years, passing away in 2005, at 89 yrs. old. He was haunted the rest of his life, telling people "I SHOULD HAVE SHOT AND KILLED THAT SON OF A BITCH WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE"!! I can still see that corvette to this very day!! I never got to my aunt because of him. My sisters never had a chance to know Aunt Chrri. I had to learn about her from a picture in grandma's room and when I asked about her, my grandma cried. She lost a beautiful daughter in a terrible, sickening way. My mom had to tell me about her sister she barely got to know because Chris died so young and my mom was only a small child when the monster took her life. I went to my first parole when I was in my early teens. Nobody should have to deal with this but here we are again, fighting a fight we shouldn't have to. He needs to stay in prison. What happened to Christine was horrible. I had a situation with Karl Macedonio that was a bit different. I was hitchhiking to Smithtown and he picked me up with his friend who was a passenger...his friend inferred they could have some fun with me. Carl told his friend to leave me alone. I am thankful for what he did.
