The administration finally backed down and is letting us decorate our caps. It is pathetic that it took this much noise to earn a simple right, but we proved their obsession with control is not absolute. Enjoy your personalized caps and do not let them forget that this is our …

Perhaps the most exciting time in a young kid's life is graduation. Many high schools throughout America, including colleges, have the ability to decorate their graduation caps. Our administration believes that this ruins the professionalism of the ceremony. However, this ceremony is for us, the seniors. Now, we understand that there could be people who go overboard and do inappropriate things on their cap. However there are several solutions to this.

1. Limiting to no words
2. Checking caps at rehearsal before graduation and if inappropriate, you will be stripped of your ability to walk during graduation( as you will be unable to walk if you were to decorate it without permission now)
3. Ban glitter (there is a concern to the mess from the glitter)
In no means do we mean to be disrespectful to anyone, yet we believe that we should have the privilege to decorate a cap that we own.

We are asking for everyone's support to try and change this and to gain the ability of decorating our graduation caps.

The momentum behind our fight to decorate our caps is undeniable and proves the administration cannot ignore us anymore. We are showing them that this ceremony belongs to the seniors and not some dusty institutional rulebook.

You are taught to be unique and stand out from the crowd all through kindergarten to 12th grade. They say that you should start making your own decisions and "act like adults" but then refuse to give you the freedom to simply decorate the cap that you paid for. This doesn't make sense at all.

My cap paid homage to my mother who died when I was a junior. It helped me feel like she was there beaming with pride. Let's not pervert this simple concept of expression into something it's not. It's a meaningful way to place a stamp on a job well done.

Graduation is the last experience in high school. It celebrates the achievements of students after 18 years of hard work. This day is to celebrate them, it's their day. The administration should stop making it about themselves and alienating the community in the process.

I graduated many moons ago, we did everything from throwing beach ball around, decorating caps etc. The students, or parents pay for them, as long as they don't use vulgarity or something bad in taste, let the kids enjoy their day.

These students have worked hard and deserve this. As long as it is monitored there is no reason they should not be able to show them off. The parents buy them they do not belong to the school. They should be able to decorate them. It's a tradition of being a SENIOR!

Self Expression is one of the Core Values of Individuality. Let's not take away individuality. There are many ways we can encourage people to decorate their caps respectfully.
