You are taught to be unique and stand out from the crowd all through kindergarten to 12th grade. They say that you should start making your own decisions and "act like adults" but then refuse to give you the freedom to simply decorate the cap that you paid for. This doesn't make sense at all.

Self Expression is one of the Core Values of Individuality. Let's not take away individuality. There are many ways we can encourage people to decorate their caps respectfully.

My cap paid homage to my mother who died when I was a junior. It helped me feel like she was there beaming with pride. Let's not pervert this simple concept of expression into something it's not. It's a meaningful way to place a stamp on a job well done.

Graduation is the last experience in high school. It celebrates the achievements of students after 18 years of hard work. This day is to celebrate them, it's their day. The administration should stop making it about themselves and alienating the community in the process.

It's your ceremony. And your choice to decorate should be just that.... Your Choice !!!

This is a right of passage. I graduated high school 42 years ago and caps were decorated then. The students have reasonable rules in place and have gone about this respectfully. Let them decorate the caps.

It's a highlight of graduation to be able to decorate your cap. Students shouldn't be banned from doing so.

I'm not a senior but I would love for this to become a traditional thing for CVA so I can do it next year

I am a former Ilion graduate class of 2000, I wish we were able to do this then... Is allowing the kids to decorate their caps really going to hurt anything or anyone...? You should all be worrying about bigger issues!

Combining schools was supposed to be a good thing. As a grandmother I have to ask--for whom? Put your efforts into stopping drugs, pregnancy and alcohol instead of stopping freedom of speech, expression and individuality.

The Class of 2016 tried to get it passed last year. We had a petition and also held a debate with Mr Keeler. He still declined but offered we all wear the shirts of the school we are going to at our senior BBQ. What you are doing is good but I doubt they'll listen.
