It is concerning that our City consistently ranks within the top three highest taxed in the state of Minnesota, while you neglect a basic need. We believe it is the height of irresponsibility to manage the budget in the manner which is done today. When 45% of our budget went to Police $704,000 and Fire $202,000 in 2008, but nothing (except increased taxes) for road improvements, we demand a change. With a total budget of $2,441,600 this lopsided spending seems abnormal. To cite an example for you, the City of Minnetonka spends 40% on Police, Fire and Road Maintenance. This being an election year, if current Council cannot figure out how to budget responsibly and rein in spending, we are certain the next one will.
