Georgia State Univeristy policy prohibits sleeveless shirts at the Student Recreational Center gym. The administration claims this policy ensures the longevity of the equipment. It is the responsibility of the employees of the recreational center to maintain the supposed longevity of the equipment. This policy effectively censors the student population. This petition will urge Georgia State Administration to re-evaluate their stance on this oppressive policy.

I have requested a formal meeting with the Director of Recreational Services to present the architectural flaws in their argument regarding equipment wear. A legal advocate is currently reviewing university policy handbooks to identify potential inconsistencies in how this dress code is enforced across campus facilities.

ridiculous rule. never seen this at any other rec center.
FINALLY. This policy makes no sense and feels like they are just finding reasons to harass people.
Been kicked out twice for this. Its a gym not a fancy restaurant. Let us workout.
bruh i just want to wear a stringer its 90 degrees out there
the equipment longevity excuse is total bs lol. maybe if they actually cleaned the machines instead of policing clothes it wouldnt be an issue

Whoever made this rule has obviously never worked out before. That, or they're some scuffed lifters who don't use full range of motion. Must be doing some quarter reps with their full wool coat on.
