Karen you are right. Specially the home school.kids. I mean what right do they have to say about something we force them to pay for? I know we use the saying of everything for the kids and that it how we rob kidless and home school adults to pay for our kids, but the nerve they must have to have a say with the money we rightfully stolen from them.

Yea as they grow up into a world with less or more screen time? Make sure they are ready for more or less screen time. Pick one

Don't want your kid on a phone during lunch? Don't send him/her, or whatever combination they might be, with a cell phone to school. Make them give you their phone before they go to school. They won't have a phone at school, and won't use one. However, I need to check on my kids, they're in an extremely dangerous place, and if they aren't ok I need to know, and now. With the shootings, the bullying, the harassment, and just the structure of public schools in itself, if my kid isn't doing ok I'm coming to get them. Sorry you can't control your kids, that doesn't give you the right to control mine.

Not many realize that it's up to you to fix your problem, it isn't up to the governing body. Don't want your kid using a cell phone during school? Don't let em take one. I know, it's complicated to understand...

They're at school where they aren't allowed to move, play, daydream, and usually interacting with others gets you in trouble.....

That comment causes as much cancer as my phone does.

So I have no right to check on my kid in the middle of the day? My kid can't call to me to pick him up when he's getting bullied too much? What the hell is so wrong with y'all that a parent can't communicate with their kid for the whole day? Is it a town full of Karen's with the chopped haircut needing to speak to the manager because there weren't enough lines open at the store?

Yes! Kids need to talk to real people in person, not through the phone.

Cell phones cause cancer!!!! The radio waves are used by the Russians to sterilize our young men so they can’t fight in the military! please do the right thing, kids don’t need phones!

Kids don't need access to phones during the day. It's absurd to say they do.

How about only parents of current McMurray students sign this. Not parents whose kids attend the Harbor school, are home schooled, are at the high school or at CES.

I support this 100%. Kids need less time on screens and more time to move, play, daydream and interact with others.

Ridiculous parents who's kids aren't attending a Vashon school are signing this petition. Slade and the school board should ignore this petty and arrogant request.

I can't believe this is getting the attention that it is. Parent your own kids. I don't like your kid's gory graphic novels, so I ask my kid to stay away. I don't like your kid talking about R rated movies, violent video games, or lyrics in some songs, so I talk to my kid about our family's values and what he can do in those situations. When your kid is doing things my kid doesn't like, he pops in his earbuds and listens to a podcast or music. "Cell phones and social media apps make the rocky road much rockier" How about you actually parent and stop your kid from being a jerk on-line after school hours? Where's the outrage of having videos being showing on a continual basis in the classroom, starting in kindergarten - it's ridiculous. Parent your own kid. I want to be able to contact my kid. He needs to contact me. Stop having your kid want to do stuff on my kid's phone. Stop having your kid talk to my kid about idiotic games, videos and memes that they do after school. This isn't a case of 'it takes a village' - it takes you to actually parent your own kid to your own values. Are you going to make a grab for my kid's copy of the Catcher and the Rye he's reading at lunch?

Absolutely, they are a massive distraction in school where the purpose is to LEARN.
