There are plans in the works to erect a new Rogers cell tower at Brookdale Plaza in Peterborough, Ontario. The City of Peterborough has created a recommendation that the building of new telecommunication structures not be within
120 m of any land zoned as residential. The proposed tower will fall within this radius. Is a cell tower what we want for this residential community? Please sign this petition to indicate your opposition to this project and to help us hold City Council accountable to their own recommendation. We will be presenting this petition to City Council.
I am currently finalizing the formal brief to document how the proposed location violates the city's own proximity guidelines. My focus is now on securing a formal hearing with the planning committee to present these findings directly to the council members.

The accumulation of support has reached a level where the City Planning Department can no longer ignore this inquiry. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to the Council members to request an immediate review of the zoning violation.

Idea: Boycott Tim Hortons Brookdale Plaza for one week and spread the word of when it's going to be so the impact is known - maybe the first week of April.
Reasoning: 1) Boycotting this business will not bankrupt them like it might other businesses at Brookdale. 2) Tim Hortons will have the most clout with the owners of the property.

We just live around the corner from the plaza and the last thing we need is the tower in a parking lot or erected on the premises. No matter where they look within the plaza site, it will not meet the city requirements as residence's are too close.

I live and work in this neighbourhood - our cell service is just fine, and the health of our children is our major priority. There is neither a need nor a place for a cell tower at Brookdale Plaza.

I am opposed to this project and extremely concerned that it goes against the recommendation made by the City of Peterborough that new telecommunication structures not be within 120m of any residential land.

The 120m in the City's by-law is much lower than in other jurisidictions, so it is of concern that even this minimal distance is being disregarded.

WAY too close to residential neighbourhoods. Not necessary build to standards or don't build at all. What an eyesore. Shows us the council isn't standing up for any rights or community concerns.

There are lots of other places to put up a tower in Peterborough (lots of open fields). Totally against this!
