We, the undersigned of Cedar Orchards and Kessler, oppose the rezoning of the property on the corner of Cherry/Clay from R2 to a denser zoning. The infrastructure does not support the denser zoning nor does the area feel it is in keeping with surrounding neighborhoods. We ask you keep the zoning of that plot of land at R2 in keeping with the original plan for that piece of property.
Seeing all these signatures pouring in is wild because it proves that everyone else actually feels the exact same way I do about the traffic on Clay Street. It is honestly such a relief to know that the neighborhood feels like a real community again and not just a bunch of people who happen to live on the same block.

High-density housing along Clay street in this location will result in significant traffic increases and congestion in this area. The proposed design is not in keeping with the other homes in the surrounding neighborhoods.

To me, this is largely a children safety issue. Kids in the neighborhood are used to very low traffic volume, and certain type of driver. The high density development will change that, endangering our kids who are used to the relative "traffic safety".
I understand the need for the city to expand, and I have nothing against it. However, the goal can be achieved by building the same types of houses that match the surrounding developments, e.g. the Orchards.
There are plenty of high density neighborhoods in Blacksburg already, those can be expanded without destroying the uniqueness of ours.

I am opposed to this rezoning request because the neighborhoods impacted will experience far too much automobile traffic than the neighborhoods can bear and the roads were designed and built to sustain.

This is not in the best interest of the county or the neighborhoods that surround this proposed development.
