High-density housing along Clay street in this location will result in significant traffic increases and congestion in this area. The proposed design is not in keeping with the other homes in the surrounding neighborhoods.

To me, this is largely a children safety issue. Kids in the neighborhood are used to very low traffic volume, and certain type of driver. The high density development will change that, endangering our kids who are used to the relative "traffic safety".
I understand the need for the city to expand, and I have nothing against it. However, the goal can be achieved by building the same types of houses that match the surrounding developments, e.g. the Orchards.
There are plenty of high density neighborhoods in Blacksburg already, those can be expanded without destroying the uniqueness of ours.

This is not in the best interest of the county or the neighborhoods that surround this proposed development.

This is a classic case of overreach by a developer and the owner to satisfy not the needs of the community but the greed of the aforementioned. Even as altered the proposal in no way comports with the surrounding neighborhoods in either attractiveness or density of the current landowners. This was a relatively "cheap" piece of land and rather than develop a project that blends with its surroundings, the proponents went for the gold. Then they insult our intelligence by building 3/4 bedroom units and claim they are satisfying some government mandate by providing occupancy for "professionals and business people". Their focus is student housing. Look around the neighborhoods . Do you see student housing?
Go back to the drawing board. Create a project that fits in with the surrounding community....and still will make money for the proponents.

The infrastructure does not support the denser zoning nor does it keep with the area of the surrounding neighborhoods.

I am opposed to this rezoning request because the neighborhoods impacted will experience far too much automobile traffic than the neighborhoods can bear and the roads were designed and built to sustain.
