Unfortunately my daughter suffers from asthma and I'm now forced with a very difficult decision to make. We're not asking for 100% virtual, but the opportunity to choose a virtual option for those who do not feel safe sending their children back, at least for the 1st quarter. I love CCA and would prefer to not make this difficult decision.

We consider CCA our home away from home. The learning experience our child has received has been immeasurable. However, there are still too many unknowns related to the spread of COVID-19 and we feel virtual instruction would be the best and most conservative option for.

Virtual learning should be an option. There are students that attend CCA with diseases and low immune systems. Protecting them as much as possible should be priority until our State and CDC can affirm the risks are minimal to none! My child loves CCA and excited about returning to start HS, but I’m concerned about her health even with all the precautions CCA is putting in place.
CCA has an outstanding faculty and staff! Not given an option for the safety concerns of my child and family puts me in a difficult situation. Parents should have a say about what they feel comfortable with in this new environment. I fully support distance learning until children and faculty can safely return to the classroom. Right now, everything is uncertain.

P. S. If you are, like our family and others, on a payment plan wherein you have made advance payments, CCA is, contrary to the handbook policy, which states that only a current month's tuition would be refundable, keeping all paid tuition, even though the year has not yet begun. The handbook in no way addresses prepayments. This begs the question of how long CCA gad been robbing families. And at a time of financial crisis for many. Lawyer up. These do not care about you. I refuse to beg them for what they should do.

The safety of our children should be first and foremost. National polls have shown that over 70% of parents nationwide believe it is not safe to return to the classroom. It is sad that the local school districts have listened to parents but CCA has disregarded what parents want. I recommend the decision to return to school be a board vote.

Student safety should extend to the home and risk of parents, grandparents, and other family members who live in the home with underlying health concerns. Parents should not have to give up/choose a quality education and a stable environment for their children over the safety and well-being of their family.

I believe this option is the best for the pandemic we are in. No parent or child should have to attend in-person classes this year or next year if they feel uncomfortable. Safety of all persons to include CCA staff is most important. One positive case is one that could be prevented by exercising prudent actions to offer virtual classes. Please consider more than the profit margin over a child or families life. Thank you!

CCA consulted the CDC, VHD, Governor, Pediatric society reports, and medical professionals but never consulted with the parents.
What was the reasoning behind parents not being considered when making this decision? Why did the school not feel it was important to gather feedback from parents and families? A survey should have been given to ask parents/families about their comfort with in-person and virtual learning and to gather data to inform plans to reopen schools.
The Prince William County School Board (PWCSB) unanimously (8-0) adopted a return to learning plan that will have the first quarter of the school year as all virtual learning for most students. PWCSB also consulted the CDC, VHD, Governor, Pediatric society reports, and medical professionals. So why is there a disparity in guidance?
It is difficult as a parent responsible for our children’s education, safety and wellbeing not being able to have a choice or at least be part of the decision making process.
I understand we have the option to withdraw them from the school. So I am being forced to make a decision between the safety of my child and the quality of their education. That is not fare.
Child care facilities, summer schools and camps globally that took extraordinary COVID-19 precautions that opened earlier all have seen coronavirus cases surge. Why, Because of airborne transmission.
Filtration in the schools heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and the MERV rating of the filters was not considered to be a part of CCA’s overall COVID 19 risk mitigation. Airborne transmission through aerosols in indoor settings with poor ventilation put our kids at greater risk of exposure. All it takes is one infected person to sneeze or cough and the HVAC system will spread the virus throughout the school.
The new numbers in Virginia are fueling concern and should give us a pause and reevaluate are we ready to go back to school.

I have sent my children to CCA since pre K 2 and want them to attend but I would feel more comfortable with a virtual option. Especially the little ones that will have I believe a harder time social distancing themselves.
