Hi Everyone! I am aware that over the past week I have returned to school with a new hair look. I have noticed that some teachers have not been to fond of the recent pop of colour, and although I highly respect and understand this concern, I have several points to make:

- After the year imitative cuts for cancer, I have felt incredibly insecure of my new length of hair, and this recent makeover has allowed me to feel more comfortable and happy in my appearance.

- The colour is not only for personal reason- for my HSC drama Group Project, the colour red is utilized as a symbol; and this hair alteration will be beneficial to communicating our important message.

- The school diary states that "unsuitable or coloured hairstyles are not permitted". Although I accept fault for dyeing my hair without the consent of the school, many girls have dyed hair of natural colours (blonde, brunette, etc), and the red hair colour that I currently have is not necessary an unnatural colour (such as blue, green, etc.)

Through signing this petition, please understand that I mean no malice towards the school, and am not trying to set a negative example for my peers- simply wanting to feel comfortable in myself and finish my final school year with an appearance I can be fond of.
