As competirive female softball players, we are tired of playing in a league that forces men to use wooden bats. It is our understanding that this rule was put in place to "protect" the ladies from the ball coming off the bat at a higher rate of speed like when a composite bat is used. This rule was forced upon us and was never welcomed to begin with. Most all of the women who play in Division One and Division Two Coed softball are competitive ball players who participate in tournaments outside of Casper where men use metal and composite bats. This puts us at a great disadvantage because we are used to playing against men using wooden bats. Obviously if we were afraid of playing against men using composite bats then we would not travel to these tournaments. When this rule was created years ago, it was forced upon the players without asking what we, the players on the field wanted. We understand that there may be lower divisions where wooden bats are welcomed, so we are not asking to get rid of them completely, instead allow there to be two separate leagues, one where men can use metal or composite bats and one where they just use wooden bats. Please allow us to make the choice for ourselves

Seeing this level of support reminds me exactly why we started this fight for our own safety and our own game. It is clear that I am not the only one tired of being told what we can handle on the field.

Agree with this petition 100% . As rules are enforced for "safety" and speeding up play every year. When in my humble opinion it takes away from the sport and competitive aspect . Lower divisions may be good for Co ed wooden bat . But the competitive divisions have players capable of stopping a ball or getting out of the way.

I've played in AZ for 30 years with no wooden bats. Play 2 leagues. It makes the competitive better and rec. league more fun.

The women in Cody, Thermopolis and Worland Coed leagues all play with men using composite bats. It's a disservice to your competitive women not to let them play in a league where they can prepare for the state tournament, in which the guys will be using composite bats. The higher divisions should follow true ASA rules.

I feel if the women in this league or ok with the outcome of not using Wooden bats that should be their choice!

All is fair in love and sports. If the talented woman of the league want it that way, then allow them the opportunity to play against the competition.

We are hurting our women more than helping. The majority of D1 women play travel softball and are having a hard time transitioning to fielding a ball hit off an aluminum bat because all they see every week is a ball hit off of a wooden bat which in softball is a huge difference!!
