Situated on the beautiful Algarve, the Lagoa camera (local council) has, without consultation of the local residents decided to build a 40 meter high military/emergency services communication tower in the middle of a well established residential area in east Carvoeiro, a popular tourist resort town with many Portugese and International residents. This tower is potentially a health hazzard due to it's position and probably contravenes EU law. The tower is being built right now over the easter period when most residents are away in order to prevent locals protesting! (early April) It will dramatically affect villa rentals, the health of local residents and the profitability of local businesses at a time when revenues are already hit due to the global recession. This decision by the camera is wrong for legal and common sense reasons and must be stopped!
