Carolina Bays 31 Extension - Opposition to Route 17 Alternative

It would be devastation to the businesses, residents, workers, cemeteries, housing developments, churches, etc, living and working near Route 904 and Route 16. I highly recommend the 31 Extension begin at Route 9 and extend miles west of Route 17, and come into Rt. 17 at Rt. 130 in Shallotte.

I do not support the conversion of US17 into an interstate highway or the construction of massive interstate interchanges on US 17. I support construction of a new road inland – parallel to US 17 with connections to US 17 with the most minimum disruption to existing infrastructure.

An altenate more inland route makes more sense. Eliminating homes in Ocean Ridge directly affects the collection of high property taxes which support Brunswick County. Can the county and state afford to lose this tax base?

No to proposed route 4

There is NO REASON for eminent domain to happen on costal North Carolina

We arevery opposed to this plan. Why ruin existing neighborhoods, businesses, medical facilities and other existing infrastructure, when there are acres of unused land available in the alternative plan. Pass the alternative plan!!

NO TO PROPOSED ROUTE 4

I highly recommend the 31 Extention begin at Route 9 and extend miles west of Route 17; it would have less of an impact on the quality of life for thousands of resident law and workers near routes 16 and 904.

I recommend the 31 extension from Route 9 to be constructed miles west of Route 17. It would be devastating to the businesses, churches, cemeteries, housing developments and quality of life for thousands of people living and working near Route 994 and Route 17. Regards, Dick Dwyer

The proposed route is an example of irresponsible planning without regard for the homes, businesses, medical offices and churches along route 17.

I do not approve of route 4. Route 4a is more acceptable.

This extension will ruin8ng the lives of thousands including the only Catholic Church between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach

I wish to covey that I am strongly opposed to the "preferred" route 4 and am strongly in favor of route 4A.

I feel that the option 4 selection will significantly impact Ocean Ridges Plantation. The value of the remaining properties will be reduced and for many of us, our home is a major investment for our well being as senior adults. Taking away the beautiful entrance of the community and several homes and golf holes will negatively impact the entire community.

Please relocate to a location that doesn’t affect so many people.

Why would NCDOT select the more expensive and destructive route to existing propertied of the proposed routes? There are other options that meet the needs of the project that should be prioritized over Route 4. Sincerely, Douglas E. Sabo

Option 4A is the better option. The byway should continue more inland for less disruption and less congestion closer to the beach areas, etc.

Please reconsider option 4A to preserve our community and the existing businesses, churches, etc.

I do not support this extension as proposed. Take it more inland.

Alternate Route 4A makes so much more sense from a point of disruption to established communities. 4A should be strongly favored over Option 4 which will wreak havoc on Ocean Ridge and surrounding businesses.
