We, the undersigned, understand that 1 of the remaining proposed routes (Route 4) for the Carolina Bays Parkway extension (SC31) into North Carolina (NCDOT Project 5876) will convert portions of US 17 into an interstate highway, adding massive interchanges, cutting through our communities and destroying homes, local businesses, houses of worship, schools and wreaking havoc on our economy.
Therefore, we do not support the conversion of US17 into an interstate highway or the construction of massive interstate interchanges on US 17.
We support construction of a new road inland – parallel to US 17 with connections to US 17 with the most minimum disruption to existing infrastructure.

An altenate more inland route makes more sense. Eliminating homes in Ocean Ridge directly affects the collection of high property taxes which support Brunswick County. Can the county and state afford to lose this tax base?
I recommend the 31 extension from Route 9 to be constructed miles west of Route 17. It would be devastating to the businesses, churches, cemeteries, housing developments and quality of life for thousands of people living and working near Route 994 and Route 17. Regards, Dick Dwyer
Option 4A is the only logical option. Route 17 cannot be the only local road for evacuation. Option 4A should be extended to I 140, giving residents another way to evacuate. Why displace businesses & jobs, when there is vacant land inland.
This is the wrong decision. Project 5876 will negatively impact many businesses, Churches, locally owned homes, etc. Put the future parkway extension west of the 17 until you are past Shallote. This would then benefit everyone, because it is needed.
We own land at 99 Windsor Circle where we are looking to build our forever home, and had no intent of doing this next to a highway. Please move forward with an inland route through farmland that has less impact on the homes and businesses on 17.
We are opposed to any version of the extension

I strongly object to destroying property in Ocean Ridge Plantation. A lot of people move to Ocean Isle bc of Ocean Ridge. We had a tornado 5 years ago that destroyed a lot of homes in Ocean Ridge. Some of us have still not forgotten that. Please save our community.
