We the undersigned petition the council to reject any bid from Veolia Environmental Services for waste treatment contracts because of Veolia's complicity in the illegal and brutal Israeli military occupation of Palestinian territory, apartheid infrastructure and human rights abuses. We demand that Kent citizens' council tax not benefit any company profiting from Israel's illegal occupation. We note that:
* the UN Human Rights Council on 14th April, 2010, expressed grave concern at 'The Israeli decision to establish and operate a tramway between West Jerusalem and the Israeli settlement of Pisgat Zeev, which is in clear violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.'
* Veolia is a partner in the City Pass consortium and has been involved in building and operating a light rail tramway system linking Israel to illegal settlements in occupied East Jerusalem; the operation of bus routes linking other illegal settlements; and acts as an adviser to a settler group operating and illegal rubbish dump on Palestinian land in the Jordan Valley.
