I agree that ever since its initial shipment, there have been reports of inaccurate and inconsistent auto-focus behaviour with some Canon EOS 7D bodies. This behaviour causes a range of image quality issues, ranging from softness to grossly out of focus images.

Had the soft focus issue since owning the 7D from new. Contacted Canon but they have "not heard" of the problem.
I notice in Live View that the image changes constantly from sharp to soft almost every half second if you look close at the screen.
The hard reset where you remove both batteries for a period of time seems to work but only for a while before the soft focus comes back. Please Canon, recall these cameras as there is clearly a problem on an expensive piece of kit!

This is my fourth Canon DSLR, and I really expected a far better camera. The soft focus problem has made me regret the purchas, but I'm retired and on limited funds and this was a major purchase for me.
PLEASE offer Canon 7D owners some assistance in this matter, why won't you even acknowledge my concern???
Canon should be ashamed !!!!

Same issues, soft focus or way out of focus, sent it back to Canon, no help, when I complained again, they were unresponsive, expensive lesson on buying Canon, it ruined countless number of what should have been great family moments.

Same autofocus issue here. I had the issue with the 50D and now with my 7D. I will be switching to NIKON for sure. Canon wont even acknowledge this issue or fix it for free.

I have had a focusing problem since I bought my Canon 7d a few years ago. I complained to Canon and they had me take some pictures and could not definitely say there was a focus problem. My friends who are Canon users agree my camera is not focusing like it should. This has been very frustrating with the amount of money I have spent on this camera and lenses. Why won't Canon just acknowledge there is a problem. I have been so tempted to switch to Nikon but have too much money invested in my Canon.

Since day 1, I have been enormously disappointed with the inability of this camera to produce sharp/in focus photos. My Nikon DSLR from 10 years ago produces sharper images!
