Canon Powershot S100 - Shutter not working - request to recall

I previously thought this was a great camera until the day the shutter button stopped depressing fully to take a picture after focusing. This is the 5th Canon camera I have owned but is likely to be my last if as it appears from searching on the internet that this a known fault on this camera in which case Canon should take responsibility for fixing or replacing defective S100 cameras with this fault free of charge.

Canon's reputation is on the line for me on this one. I have never been so disappointed with any other product.

My shutter button has stopped working, and it is clear from the quantity of faulty cameras that this is a defective part. Canon must take responsibility.

It's a real shame that this camera has a shutter release issue because otherwise, it takes really nice photos. I've only had this camera for couple of years, and I paid a lot for it. I even paid almost $1000 for a custom made housing for it. I had expected this camera to last a lot longer.

I have an S100 and am also experiencing this problem. Makes the camera unusable.

I am having the same problem with my camera. Only works sometimes. Very frustrating as I paid not only for the camera but underwater housing to fit it; so all in all very expensive, and do not want to take it under water and waste time with this problem.

I have had the shutter problem and also the lens retracting problem. They fixed thr second one on the garantie and the shutter problem cost me 100€

Same problem. Camera is new but cannot Shoot! Yes poor customer service too

have had my s100 for 2 years and over the last year the shutter has started becoming less responsive. Now it currently does not respond at all.

There are too many of us with this shutter release issue.

Why not do a nice customer service? If there are many people reporting a problem just fix it and make customer happy. otherwise every customer should take another camera brand next time to show this problems of customer service

Canon Powershot S100 experiencing the same shutter release problem described by others.

The shutter on my S100 is very unreliable. It can take several seconds for it to work by which time the shot is lost or I have move.

SUBMIT A COMPLAINT TO (YOUR) STATE ATTORNEY 4. SIGN THIS PETITION 5. SHARE THIS PETITION ON MEDIA SITES I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL 3 WEEKS AFTER AND CANON FIXED MY CAMERA FOR FREEN (NO RECEIPT). IT'S BEEN WORKING FOR 2 MONTHS NOW WITHOUT AN ISSUES (KNOCK ON WOOD). GOOD LUCK!
