Cannabis is recreationally legal for adults 21+ in Michigan as of Nov. 2018 but there are still many details of this law that have yet to be finalized. Leaders in the cannabis industry are exploring the fine print and regulations for cannabis-friendly establishments, but it is illegal for adults to actually consume cannabis in businesses that would otherwise permit it.

It's not legal to drink "in public," but it's legal to drink at bars, restaurants, clubs, concerts, festivals... the list goes on. If people can legally consume alcohol at properly regulated venues, it's logical that properly regulated venues should be allowed to permit the smoking of cannabis on the premises as well.

Updates

Seeing this kind of momentum is exhausting but it proves that people are finally ready to demand common sense in our local laws. The path ahead is long and uncertain but we have earned enough attention that the city council can no longer look the other way.

I have epilepsy and while my neurologist says that it is not a mirical drug. I have heard that for some it can be. So I say, why deny them the chance of that opertunity to get off of pharmaceutical drugs.

Our community has spoken and they want to smoke more freely. Cannabis is legal, its time to be treated as such.
