Starting on January 1st, 2020, it will be legal for adults (21+) to buy and consume cannabis/marijuana recreationally. There's nothing the City of Bloomington can do to restrict or ban that.

However, the city does get to decide whether or note we allow cannabis businesses (like dispensaries, cultivation centers, growers, etc) to operate within city limits. If we do, the city will receive up to 3% in tax money from sales, which can be used for any purpose.

What do you think? Should the city allow cannabis businesses to establish in Bloomington, IL?

Keep the tax dollars in bloomington instead of driving to the next town over. Makes sense to me.

Ridiculous to miss out on this revenue. It is legal anyway so might as well let local shops handle it.
