Started by ARGS Student 12 years, 7 months ago

In light of the recent inclement weather and the action of other school systems (Henrico, Prince George, Maggie Walker, and Dinwiddie) it is our request that exams be canceled. This will serve 2 purposes:

1) To keep ARGS classes and faculty on schedule for all activities (inside and outside of the classroom), and not disrupt teacher scheduling for material to be taught.

2) To alleviate the burden of stress this will create on students. Not only will student be receiving 2 comprehensive tests on old material in the morning (this having been taught to them over the course of 4 1/2 months) but in the afternoon they will be expected to be fresh and ready to learn new information, participating and engaging in all classroom activity, not to mention completing homework activities this teaching will ensue.

The momentum behind this effort is real and it shows how many of us are exhausted by the current plan. I am tired but feeling pushed to keep going because of the response I see here.

Think about the student athletes and students who participate in after-school activities, without the half days, they will not be successful.

Don't be afraid to tell your teachers this stuff too. If they see that their students are worried about exams and how you want to be on schedule for the coming semester, let them know. A personal email might have more weight than an online petition (still in favor of the petition obvioisly)

Exams on top of regular school and homework will be so stressful on students, not to mention those who have after school commitments such as athletics and jobs. Also, students will not have an adequate amount of time to rest and study for their next exams. Please consider the needs and concerns of the student body. Thank you.

Powhatan also just canceled their exams. Also, exams going another week means one more week before I can send in my mid-year grades to the colleges I'm applying to, which is very very stressful.

I based my studying off of the old schedule and now its hard to study based on the new schedule along with having full days instead of half.

We shouldn't have to go through exams like this. I'd be fine with taking them- I've spent this week preparing- if the schedule wasn't so messed up.

Back in my day we had proper names Mr... Potato, and we went to school while bombs were being dropped around us! We went to school in the trenches, and in the tanks, and in the weapons given to us by our glorious country. WE did not have the luxury of peace as you did, WE had to go to the toughest school, the school of war.

I believe that youngun's today have no proper sense of what a "negative manner" is. In my days, "negative manner" meant attempting to take over the world! I suggest you stop this feeble twaddling and take proper responsibility for yourself!
